Introduction
to the User Interface
This
guide will give you a quick tour of the PicoBackup user interface.
PicoBackup is actually made up of two different programs, the PicoBackup
main program and the PicoBackup Scheduling Agent which runs in the
Windows tray area on your taskbar.
PicoBackup
The
PicoBackup main program is where you will do most of your work in
configuring, running and restoring Backup Sets.
A
Backup Set is a file containing all the information required to
perform a backup, such as the source of the data to be backup, the
target destination where the backup file will be stored, schedule
details, etc. Once a Backup Set has been configured and saved, you
can easily perform the same backup over and over again by just running
it.
PicoBackup's
main user interface is shown below.

The
Backup Sets that you create will be listed in the main window. To
perform any action on a particular Backup Set, you need to select
it first by clicking on it. Buttons and menu commands that are applicable
to the Backup Set you selected will be automatically enabled so
that they can be selected.
You
can also perform operations on a Backup Set by right-clicking it.
A popup menu will appear as shown below.

PicoBackup Scheduling Agent
The
PicoBackup Scheduling Agent is an application that runs in the background
and is accessible through an icon in the Windows tray as shown below.

The
scheduling agent must be allowed to run automatically at Windows
startup if you wish to use any of the scheduling features in PicoBackup.
Right-clicking the Scheduling Agent's icon on the Windows tray will
popup a menu that gives you quick access to the commonly used PicoBackup
features without having to run PicoBackup first.
